ZOO DOO

So almost 2 weeks ago....I know I have been bad about posting...but we all went to the zoo here that is called Zoo Doo.  I don't think it was as good as the wildlife zoo we went to in the beginning but at this zoo they did have more animals.  The roomies and I all went because Caila didn't make it to the first trip with us. So off we went.  The zoo is about 20 minutes away, and driving there we went through some of the wine country here.  I am planning on going back there to become even more of a wine snob then I already am.  And speaking of wine here, I haven't had a bad bottle of anything yet, so that says a lot.  Well back to the zoo.  We got there and it was a really sunny day so I decided to not wear a coat....it was a bad decision.  It was very windy up on this hill and of course the sun went away here and there so that didn't help at all.  There was a little petting zoo and I had to take this picture for you Chad J. because it reminded me of your ferret Fatty.

We moved on and saw some monkeys and a lot of birds but their cages were so dark.  I think that was another reason I didn't like this zoo as much was because the cages seemed dirty and the animals were locked up in such small areas.  It is NOTHING like the zoo back home and we all know how I feel about animal captivity....so I was not impressed at all.   But Caila was excited to be there, and her favorite animal is a Tiger and they had 2 there.  Here is a picture of her on top of a fake Tiger.

We walked through and were able to see the white lions and a cub lion.  They were very pretty and the cub was super cute.  We watched them get fed and I forget how amazing these big cats are.  Makes me want one, but only if it was toothless and no claws.  Here are some pictures of the white lions and the cub.

We then boarded this bus that took us around the rest of the open cages and were able to feed some of the animals.  We entered a caged area that had emus in it that we fed.  It was incredibly creepy and a bit scary because they basically attack you.  The driver gave us each a small bag that was filled with food and told us to hold out our arms with are hands holding the bottom of the bag so that the emus could stick their beaks into the bag and grab food.  I tried it and they emu grabbed the bag out of my hand, thank god I didn't loose a finger.  Lindsay was about to do it but got to scared and threw the bag out of the bus to the emus.  Caila was the bravest and held on to the bag the longest.  Here is a picture of her with the emus after her bag.

Here we are, the roomies and me!

We then moved on to the ostrich cage, but fed them out of a bucket and then went onto a camel and fed them the same way.  They didn't make me laugh as much as the emus did, but the guy who was driving the bus totally freaked out Lindsay by saying there was an ostrich behind her. I don't think anyone has jumped so high before.

After the bus ride we were tired out, and had seen the whole zoo....believe me it is not that big.  So we headed out.  Now Lindsay and I have been on this brie kick out here so we stopped at a cheese making shop and picked up some brie and crackers.  It was very tasty for lunch!  I leave you with our wicked cheese.  Yum Yum!

  1. I know you are not a fan of animals in captivity, but just remember the zebras in the zoo can take a nap. The wild ones can't or the lions will eat them.
